Diana's Experience Fostering

Diana Price
Ormond Beach, FL

In 2005,  I was allowed to be a Foster Parent but not able to adopt any of my children.

I have had over 30 kids in my home and I’ve never refused any child - even when they asked me to take in 5 siblings all under the age of 6 for weekend respite.  I never received any discrimination at the local level because they always got a PERSON who loved children, and they never treated me as an outsider.  The laws back in 2005 stated I was good enough to foster but not good enough to adopt.  I am still able to foster children today, I recertified 2 years ago and now the laws have changed, and I feel as I have no restrictions on me if I choose to adopt any of the children I choose to.  It is important for society to realize that love is love no matter what sexual orientation you choose.

This is not about personal opinions, it’s about children that need a caring and loving person that is able to take care of them.  I do not judge others; I don’t expect others to judge me.  KIDS do not judge - they don’t see my color, my sexual orientation, my religion, etc. They only see someone who loves them unconditionally.
